Mandy Barnett charms with a fresh take on songs that made Nashville famous.
On its way to becoming “Music City,” Nashville was the hub of musical genre blending and innovation, influenced by the big band era and pre-rock pop. Country stars crossed over into pop, while many well-known pop singers of the day made albums in Nashville.
The “Nashville Songbook” is a collection of tunes that define this era—some of the most influential and iconic country and pop standards ever written. Barnett salutes this great anthology, performing songs originally recorded by artists as diverse as Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline, Elvis, Tammy Wynette, Hank Williams, The Everly Brothers, Brenda Lee, Johnny Cash, and more—including a Meghan Trainor modern surprise.
