30A Songwriter's Festival goes Virtual

1/15/2021

Picture
The 30A Songwriter's Festival has announced they are going Virtual for 2021. More details will be coming soon.  From their email correspondance.

We will post details as soon as we know them as well.

"Greetings,

We want to alert one and all that we are about to announce details for the 2021 Virtual 30A Songwriters Festival. It is going up for sale VERY SOON. (think Hooks, (on)Lines & Singers). Check your emails and Facebook to keep up to date on all the latest information on this event.

We are down on 30A working on last minute filming and editing and it feels very uncrowded and a little bit lonely without our Festival people! But let's look on the bright side. You can watch from the warmth and comfort of your home, AND drinks and wine are free. We got organized in our spare time and created a beautiful coffee table photography book of gorgeous artist photos spanning the last decade of Festival appearances. We think everyone who has attended the festival will want to have this in their home or office. By popular demand we are re-issuing a t-shirt from each year of the Festival beginning with 2010 through 2020 and have created a commemorative 2021 Virtual Festival hat for this year. Virtual Festival tickets and merchandise will be available for pre-orders soon. Don't worry - we are not debuting the Virtual Concert this weekend - there is way too much football going on. But next weekend - make it all about 30A Songwriters Festival! In the meantime, post photos from past 30A Songwriters Festivals you attended with your memories and tag our Facebook and Instagram.

See you online soon."

On the heels of the announcements that SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas has been cancelled and the Tin Pan South in Nashville, Tennessee has been postponed, stories are circulating regarding the postponement of additional festivals.

Multiple news outlets are reporting of the potential postponements of two California Festivals:
The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California is currently scheduled for April 10-12 and April 17-19, could be moving to the weekends of October 9 and October 16

The Stagecoach Country Music Festival also in Indio is rumored to be moving from April 24-26,  to the weekend of October 23.

Picture
Tin Pan South originally scheduled for March 24-28, 2020 in downtown Nashville is being postponed to later in the year (no dates announced).

Press Release from 3/6/2020:
"After heavy consideration, in light of the tornado this week as well as growing health concerns over the Coronavirus, we have decided to reschedule Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival to later this year, in the Summer,” said NSAI Executive Director Bart Herbison. “We feel this is the responsible decision, and it is supported by Tin Pan venues and sponsors involved in the festival. We want to thank everyone who had planned to participate in or attend the festival, and appreciate the support in rescheduling it.”

It is possible that several of the venues will move forward with the previously scheduled events, this will be decided between the venues and participants and it is likely that several events will now be modified to benefit tornado relief efforts.

Cancelled: SXSW Festival

3/7/2020

Picture
The City of Austin has cancelled the March dates for SXSW and SXSW EDU. SXSW will faithfully follow the City’s directions.

From the organizers:
"We are devastated to share this news with you. “The show must go on” is in our DNA, and this is the first time in 34 years that the March event will not take place. We are now working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation.
As recently as Wednesday, Austin Public Health stated that “there’s no evidence that closing SXSW or any other gatherings will make the community safer.” However, this situation evolved rapidly, and we honor and respect the City of Austin’s decision. We are committed to do our part to help protect our staff, attendees, and fellow Austinites.
We are exploring options to reschedule the event and are working to provide a virtual SXSW online experience as soon as possible for 2020 participants, starting with SXSW EDU. For our registrants, clients, and participants we will be in touch as soon as possible and will publish an FAQ."

For the latest developments please visit the SXSW Web-Site or follow them on Facebook

Leaves us to wonder if this is just the beginning.
