2014 Darius Rucker & Friends - Wildhorse Saloon

Every year Darius Rucker gets together with a few of his friends at the Wildhorse Saloon to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

​This is a great way to kick off the week. This popular event generally sells out in hours.

Hosted by Storme Warren of Sirius XM The Highway, Darius welcomed friends Cassadee Pope, Clint Black, Corey Smith, David Nail, Eli Young Band and Kenny Rogers. Charles Kelly of Lady Antebellum made a surprise appearance and blew everyone away.

The 2014 Darius Rucker and Friends was once again hosted by Storme Warren from Sirius XM The Highway.

Darius Rucker

Darius Rucker is the host for this amazing event. He brings in a bunch of his country music friends to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Research Center in Memphis, TN. In addition to the great concert, there is also both a live and a silent auction for sports and music memorabilia. There is also a golf tournament that brings in even more money.

​Darius Rucker first attained multi-platinum status as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of Hootie & the Blowfish, Since re-introducing himself to the world as a country artist, his musical life has had a truly remarkable Second Act. In 2008, he released Learn to Live; the album's first single, "Don't Think I Don't Think About It," made him the first African-American with a Number One country song since Charley Pride in 1983. It was followed by two more singles that topped the chart—"It Won't Be Like This For Long" and "Alright"—and earned him the New Artist award from the Country Music Association. His 2010 follow-up, Charleston, SC 1966, included two more Number Ones, while True Believers contained another four hit singles.

Cassadee Pope

​Cassadee Pope’s unique vocals and powerful performances stole the national spotlight as part of #TeamBlake during Season 3 of “The Voice.” Excelling throughout the competition, Pope displayed diverse musical tastes and talents, covering such songs as “Stupid Boy” (Keith Urban) and “Cry” (Faith Hill). Her version of the Country hit “Over You” (Miranda Lambert) was one of her three Voice performances that catapulted to the #1 spot on the iTunes All-Genre Chart, further proving Pope’s wide consumer appeal and vocal prowess.

Charles Kelley

Charles Kelley is best known as 1/3 of the very talented group Lady Antebellum. Kelley, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood founded the country music group  in 2006 and released their debut album in April 2008. The trio either wrote or co-wrote ten of the eleven songs on the album.  The album included the trio's debut hit, "Love Don't Live Here", along with the singles, ​"Looking for a Good Time" and "I Run to You" which became their first number one hit.

​He is also the younger brother of pop singer Josh Kelley.

Clint Black

Signed to RCA Records Nashville in 1989, Black's debut album "Killin Time" produced five straight number one singles. Black consistently charted hit songs into the 2000s. He has had more than 30 singles on the US Billboard country charts, twenty-two of which have reached number one. He is best known for being part of the class of 1989 which also introduced us to mega-stars Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks as well as other artists like Travis Tritt and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

Corey Smith

Corey Smith majored in Social Studies education at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. . He taught world geography, world history and guitar at North Gwinnett High School in Gwinnett County Georgia. He wrote songs and play for his friends at parties. Corey’s music became popular amongst his peers and his students before deciding to pursue music full-time at the age of 28. He released his 1st album Undertones in 2003.​

David Nail

​David Nail had his debut single in 2002 "Memphis" from an unreleased album for Mercury Records Nashville. Five years later, he signed with MCA Nashville, for which he has released three albums: I'm About to Come Alive, The Sound of a Million Dreams, and I'm a Fire. His studio albums have produced seven chart entries including two that have reached No. 1: "Let It Rain” and "Whatever She's Got", plus the top 10 hit "Red Light".

Eli Young Band

Eli Young Band is an American country music band composed of members who met while students at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas: Mike Eli (vocals, guitar), James Young (guitar), Jon Jones (bass guitar), and Chris Thompson (drums).
​
Mike Eli and James Young met at the University of North Texas where they became dorm roommates their freshman year. They played guitar and eventually began writing and singing songs together; they formed the acoustic duo, Eli & Young, while attending the University of North Texas. Chris Thompson and Jon Jones joined them later on and they became the Eli Young Band

Kenny Rogers

GRAMMY Award-winning country superstar and music icon Kenny Rogers has enjoyed great success during his storied career of nearly six decades.

Kenny Rogers is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. He has played to millions of fans around the world, with chart-topping hits such as: “The Gambler,” “Lady,” “Islands In The Stream,” “Lucille,” "Coward of the County,” "She Believes In Me,” “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town," "We've Got Tonight,” "Daytime Friends,” "Through The Years,” “Love Will Turn You Around,” "You Decorated My Life,” “Crazy,” “Every Time Two Fools Collide," and "Buy Me A Rose.” It would be impossible to list them all.


Thompson Square

The husband and wife duo of Keifer and Shawna Thompson have topped the radio charts across the Unites States, Canada and Australia with #1 hits “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not,” “If I Didn’t Have You” and “Everything I Shouldn’t Be Thinking About”.

The duo that was honored as both the ACM and CMA “Vocal Duo of the Year” in 2012. Thompson Square continued its streak in 2013, once again securing the ACM Award for “Vocal Duo of the Year.” In all, Thompson Square has scored three #1 hits, six Top 20 hits, seven mainstream industry awards, over 25 award nominations.
